Presentation

The High Pressure Flow Meter (HPFM) is a new tool for research in plant water relations, hydrology and root analysis. The HPFM performs quantitative root and stem analysis without having to dig up roots or take samples back to the lab. In most cases, the analysis of a sample root or shoot is completed in as little as 10 minutes.

One may quickly measure the major components of the hydraulic conductance in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum (Tyree, 1995). The HPFM helps plant physiologists and agronomists with studies of root and shoot development, nutrient uptake, water potential, or soil treatment effects.
